What is the key benefit for your company from your association with AMCA?

AMCA’s mission of advancing the knowledge, growth, and integrity of the air movement and control industry amplifies some of ebm-papst’s core values.

How have you benefited personally from your association with AMCA?

Continued education, not in the form of lectures but by applying and extending specialized engineering knowledge first in technical committees and then in cross-cutting negotiations with regulators and NGOs.

How do you see AMCA changing in the future?

The 2014 Fan Symposium in Schwäbisch Hall (Germany) was an enormous milestone on the air movement division’s journey to globalization, which to some extent is driven by regulators communicating across borders. The commitment to wire-to-air ratings and emphasis on energy-conscious fan selections help to fulfil AMCA’s mission. Above all, the brands of member companies that are on board will grow stronger.

What are your words of advice for upcoming/younger employees of AMCA member companies?

* Ask for colleagues’ names that AMCA lists for your company. Then offer to help or shadow some of them in their AMCA duties.

* Speak to the AMCA staff to determine which current projects align best with your passion.

* Don’t feel overwhelmed by the wealth of AMCA publications. But do take the time to study those AMCA standards and guidelines that pertain to your area of interest. They provide a solid foundation for any next steps that you will take with AMCA.

General observations or thoughts about AMCA International?

AMCA is not a stagnant behemoth, but its course is set and recalibrated by its members. Staff has proven to be very approachable. We have solid processes in place so everyone is heard and accommodated fairly.
